Q12 is a tool to create interactive engineering drawings, available at q12.app. Q12 is designed with a privacy-first architecture where your data remains entirely under your control. We (the authors of Q12) do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information or application data.
All data you create or upload to Q12 is stored exclusively in one of two locations of your choosing:
Local Storage: Data is saved directly to your own computer’s local storage.
Google Drive: Data is saved to your personal Google Drive account.
In both cases, your data never passes through our servers. We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve any files you create with Q12.
Before Q12 can save data to Google Drive, Google OAuth is used to authenticate you. Q12 is able to read and modify only Google Drive files that you specifically designate. Q12 does not have access to any of your other Google Drive files or other information from your Google account.
We do not collect or store any of the following:
Personal identification information (names, email addresses, phone numbers). This includes any such information stored in your Google account.
User account data or credentials.
Application content or files you create.
Cookies or other tracking identifiers.
Our web servers briefly log your IP address and browser type when you visit our website. This information is aggregated to generate website traffic statistics, and then discarded. Information in raw logs is not linked to identities, and in any case is discarded after a few hours.
If Q12 crashes, it will transmit internal error messages to our servers, and then Q12 will restart. We log these error messages and use the information in them to improve Q12. The error messages do not contain any personal identifying information, and they do not contain any information about the file you were working on.
If you choose to save your data to Google Drive, Google OAuth is used to authenticate you. Your interaction with Google’s services is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We recommend reviewing Google’s privacy practices to understand how they handle data stored in your Google Drive account. We do not receive any information from Google about you or your data.
If you use the Q12 menu options to "report a bug" or "request a feature", you will be taken to the GitHub issues page for Q12. Any information you enter on this page will become public. We use this information only to improve Q12. Your interaction with GitHub’s services is governed by GitHub’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
We do not share any user data with third parties.
Your data security depends on:
The security of your local device (if using local storage).
The security of your Google Drive account (if using Google Drive storage).
Your own security practices, such as using strong passwords, use of two-factor authentication, and keeping your devices secure.
We encourage you to follow best practices for securing your local devices and online accounts.
If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. We will notify users of any material changes through the Q12 interface or other appropriate means.
Any future changes to Q12 that might weaken user privacy will be strictly optional and opt-in. For example, if in the future we develop a feature that relies on storing user data on our own servers, users will be given the choice to use the feature or not. Use of such a feature would be subject to an updated privacy policy. Users who take no action will continue to experience an unchanged privacy situation.
Because we do not collect or store any of your personal data, there is no data for you to request access to, correct, or delete from our systems. You have complete control over your data through your local device or Google Drive account. Be aware however that this means if you lose access to your data, there is nothing we can do to recover it.
Q12 is designed so that we do not collect, store, or process personal data. To the extent privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA apply, Q12 does not act as a data controller or business with respect to personal data because no such data is held by us. All data remains under the user’s control and is stored on the user’s own devices or in the user’s own Google Drive account.
Because Q12 does not collect or store personal data, it does not maintain user profiles or identifiers that could be associated with children or minors.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at info@q12.app.
